about
Yuno has returned with “Somebody,” his irresistible emo-pop single. The song is his first new recorded output since the release of 2018’s Moodie.
Yuno says of the single, “Spending so much time at home during the pandemic brought back a lot of feelings from my adolescence. I grew up as somewhat of a loner--spending most of my time isolated in my bedroom, and I wanted to capture the parallels between my life now and the life of my younger self. I drew a lot from the pop-punk, post-hardcore, reggae, and southern hip hop that I've loved throughout my life. I feel like my 14-year-old self would be very proud."
“Somebody,” was written by Yuno Moodie, produced by Moodie and Christoph Andersson, mixed by Andersson and mastered by JJ Golden.
Even better the original. The fuzzy guitars create this warm, enveloping wall of sound that makes this classic a lot richer than Sheryl Crow's version. Allison's stout-hearted vocals, tinged with a subtle shade of blue, deliver some of the most resolute, optimistic lyrics in pop music with finesse and nostalgia. purelyanecdotal
I think it's difficult to write songs about something other than romantic love, and still be able to communicate the intensity with which those feelings can hit a person. Some of the entries on this album are fantastic examples of this niche. dani_bloop
As far as indie albums in the 2010's and beyond go, this is one of the most cohesive and emotive albums I've experienced looking back on it and is Jay Som's best album tokyonoir
